Here is a list of the materials that we recycle at Traverse Bay Recycling and the list of services provided by Padnos at our Traverse Bay Recycling location:

Items Accepted:

  • Aluminum – Aluminum siding, extrusions, castings…
  • Copper – Copper tubing, Copper wire (clean and insulated)
  • Brass - Brass water valves, faucets and fixtures
  • Stainless – Magnetic and non-magnetic (300 and 400 series)
  • Radiators – Brass, Aluminum or cast iron
  • Autobodies
  • Appliances
  • Steel
  • Cast Iron
  • Paper
  • Plastic
  • Batteries – (lead acid/auto batteries)
  • Lead – (Misc. Lead, Wheel Weights, Range Lead)
  • Catalytic Converters
  • Electronics (TV’s, computers, cell phones, printers, VCR’s…)

**Padnos does not willingly accept stolen material.  All suspect material will be turned over to local authorities.

Prohibited Materials Policy:

We would like to take a minute to thank you for your business and remind you of our policy regarding Prohibited Materials. The following two lists outline material that Padnos will reject out right and/or except after proper inspection and documentation. If you have any questions please ask to speak to the Yard Superintendent for further assistance.

The following items are prohibited material:

  • Radioactive Material
  • Hazardous Waste
  • Any Liquids or Sludge
  • Oil Filters
  • Fluorescent Light Fixtures with PCB containing Ballast
  • Ballast Containing PCB’s
  • Capacitors
  • Sealed Tanks (Freon, Propane, Gas, etc.)
  • Paint or Lacquer Containers of any kind
  • Household refuse (carpet, plastic, glass, etc.)
  • Non-metallic items (dirt, wood, etc.)
  • Tires other than attached to vehicles
  • Full loads of Rusty or Lead painted Mufflers
  • Medical test equipment/X-Ray equipment
  • Fire Brick
  • Oil based furnaces
  • Mercury vapor bulbs
  • Mercury switches (thermostats/control devices)
  • Nickel Cadmium Batteries
  • Halogen bulbs
  • Asbestos

**The following items may be accepted under special conditions:**

  • Catalytic Converters
  • Batteries (accepted at non-Ferrous Metals Department, refer to QW 7.M7 Lead Acid Battery Handling Instructions)
  • Gasoline or Diesel Tanks
  • Wire Fencing
  • Cable
  • Steel Piston Rings
  • Air Bag Canisters
  • Appliances (white goods) with CFC’s – Either by being on the Approved Vendor List for white goods or filling out Material Certification Form
  • Barrels – Must be on the Approved Barrel Vendor List
  • Fluorescent bulbs – green ends only
  • Gravestone markers, cemetery goods – only if sold by cemetery Manufacturers themselves
  • Bulk Lead Components (wheel weights, etc) – NF departments only
  • Transformers – Only if dry and free of oil, certified PCB free, and with matching serial number on certification.
